Some highlights from SCAMP 2012 conference last Thursday at Google Campus.
Me Kirsty and Cath from Made by Many headed to Scamp last week, an event where ideas and actions collide. According to The Next Web, “SCAMP is working to even the gender balance without pushing a solely female experience.”
It was my first attendance at this She Says Scamp event in London, and my first time at Google Campus London, so you can imagine my excitement and absorption of every possible detail around me!
I was very inspired, in particular through the talks of many people who were not at all related to advertising or the digital world. They brought a refreshing air and humility to the environment during the day. I met interesting people, such as Alexandra Heminsley who was attending the event. Alexandra is currently the books editor for Elle UK magazine, and I got really excited when she told me she is writing a book about running called ‘Running Like a Girl’! I love running and we had a short conversation on the subject, so I am super excited to get to talk to her a bit more soon!
The event also presented and planned for great opportunities to meet other attendants during conference breaks and through some ‘energizers’ which we went through in the beginning. So it really did feel like a different kind of event, with a laid back vibe to it.
Kirsty & Cath wrote some more detailed blog posts about their thoughts on the Made by Many blog very worth reading. Some photos of the day follow below.

Lunch break - yummy sandwiches

Nange Magro presented and demoed her creation Mechapolypse - Mind Controlled Dress

Here it is - the mind controlled dress!

The headset that controls the dress.

Adil Abrar Founder of The Amazings (a superb idea for a startup) and other startups that matter.

Willow Tyrer currently working at Doberman in Stockholm, previously at IDEO

Salena Godden poet, host and producer of The Book Club Boutique. She was so funny and had so much energy while reading her poems, also a big favorite!

Greta Corke, UX Director LBi London (really enjoyed her words on believing in your idea and in yourself)

Pat Cadigan, science fiction writer (my favorite speaker from the day, she used no visual aids at all)

I'm Ana Cecilia, Born & raised in beautiful Porto, Portugal. Currently I'm working at Made by Many as a Service Designer. In June this year I graduated from the Digital Media program at Hyper Island in Stockholm.

This blog started as a way to document my journey as a Hyper Island student and my learnings & experiences. I've continued to use it as a means to explore and document my surroundings and things that inspire me.
