The coolest and most original ‘flower pot/vase’ (if you can call this one) I have ever seen! I spotted this today outside a home-ware store near my place here in Stockholm. I had to stop and photograph it as I’d never seen anything like this. A great way to recycle an old + unwanted chair, although it will occupy lots of space if you only have a varanda at home!

A visit to Jacksons Design store
My Dad was visiting last weekend, and as two great admirers of Scandinavian design and furniture, we went to visit the well known Jacksons store on Sibyllegatan 53, in Östermalm.
They have the most amazing furnitre pieces from some of my favorite furniture designers like Arne Jacobsen and Alvar Aalto. If you are an interior design fanatic like me, you will love this store, with some of the most beautiful Scandinavian classics on show.
I took these pictures of the two white chairs and table beneath the two lamps at the entrance, as I thought they were very well aesthetically positioned. They also had this old bicycle on the window show front, which I thought was really cool. Some eye candy for now… I hope to one day earn enough money to buy at least one chair / sofa for my own place.

Hyper goodbyes’ have started
Last week it was Emilia’s last pre-party at her apartment, before the Hyper Party at Kolingsborg, a great classic I will miss! And yesterday a few drinks to say goodbye to Jessika who left for Barcelona for internship today. We went to Nada bar  where her, Johanna and Daniela were seen playing Twister right there!

Final Project at Hyper Island - Designing a new Experience
Some sketches I did today of the experience design for a new project, that involves a new way of consuming, and that will hopefully change the way we all consume! The idea is pioneered by the duo Andres + Lucy from Wabi-Sabi Inspiration Lab, my partners and leaders for this Final Project, based in Barcelona.
More details coming soon.. :)

This weekend, I passed by this metal box on Fleminggatan, which resembles the many electrical boxes of the streets here in Stockholm. However, I was really drawn to this one due to its colorful drawings, as if someone wanted to cover-up the less attractive and mundane object, and bring it to life with a fun theme. I stopped to observe and take a picture of it. I don’t see this too often here, as there are many restrictions on public property such as heritage buildings, and where outdoor posters and advertising can be placed. So, I thought this was a really fun and non-destructive way to ‘dress-up’ these metal boxes, which are usually quite ugly looking, and usually have posters stuck to them.

I quite like this alternative!

Beautiful Autumn, in Beautiful Stockholm
Some pictures taken today during my morning jog. Yes, once again I couldn’t help but stop and capture some of the most beautiful views I’ve been noticing, with trees bursting with beautiful red and green shades, which today were mirrored perfectly on the calm waters of the lake. As I leave Stockholm at the end of next month, I’m trying to absorb as much as this beautiful city has to offer until then. As a big fan of green spaces and nature, these kind of mornings spent running through such pure surroundings, really make me happy.

So the time has come where I’ve begun getting rid of some of my ‘heavier’ possessions before packing and leaving Hyper Island in a few weeks, as official school time ends, and internship periods begin.
Yesterday, it was time for my sweet bike to go. I’ve had it for 7 months, and I bought off a previous IAD11 student, and happily enough I managed to sell it on to a current student, in DM13. Happy to know it’ll be in the ‘family’ for a bit longer!

Recently I came across this beautiful hairdresser shop-front here in Stockholm: UNIK.  I really loved how the old typography & style of the words Frisör (meaning hairdresser in Swedish) stand above the front entrance.
I don’t know if it was already there before UNIK, but either way I was really drawn to the contrast between the old and the new styles. In fact what I saw first was the word Frisör, staring at me as I was crossing the road. I had to stop and take a picture.
Ohhh.. beautiful Stockholm!

It was a grey morning today, but the views’ Stockholm offers never cease to amaze me. I love this city.
- I had to stop and admire this view, and take in the beauty of this scenery I come across every morning. Photo from this morning while out for an early jog.

The End is Near : Last Group Project @ Hyper Island
And so the time has come where we have ended part 1 of the Final Project at Hyper Island! Our group presented to our client: Bukowskis last Thursday, and the 7 weeks for this project have now ended. They have gone by extremely fast, and we have learnt a lot, laughed and had loads of fun, and had our share of least good times. I was really happy I got to work with my three great team members during this last project at school, where I felt I have learnt the most at Hyper Island. Our team and their roles were:
Me: Project Management & Strategy
Malin Lindvall : Design & Copywriting
Fia Matsson : Design, Post-Production & Construction
Richard Herries : Project Management & Tech Development
A quick summary of our brief and solution we created for Bukowskis with photos are below.
Brief: ” How can Bukowskis reach new customers using digital media? (While keeping the current ones) “
Solution: After extensive research and gathering important insights, we decided to create a campaign focused on Bukwoskis Market - their online auction site. We called it “JU NÄRMRE DESTO BÄTTRE” and we built an interactive installation with motion detection and light sensors, that would be placed in the streets of Stockholm, Malmö and Gothemburg.

Work in Progress - Building the front part of installation

Work in Progress - Building the technology running behing the installation

The finished product, ready for showing off!

Ready for client presentation to begin!
— It’s sad and scary that this journey at Hyper Island is going so fast, and is coming to an end. Tomorrow the Final Project part 2 begins, where we are free to work on any project we wish and with who we wish. We have 7 more weeks left before the official time for internship begins in November.

A Busy Week @Hyper Island
It’s Friday of week 5 of 7 during the Final Project module at Hyper Island, the last project where we are working in official groups at school before we go off on internship. This was a busy week, where we had mid-presentations for our class DM12 where some co-workers were present too - Bella Funck & Thomas Bjork - to give us feedback on our concepts and progress so far. This was a great session and one of the best things Hyper support us with: a chance to get real feedback DURING our process, enabling us to look at our project with different eyes and improve it before final delivery. This session certainly gave our group very valuable insights on what we presented for our client Bukowskis.
Above our view from ‘stage’ presenting to the audience, and below photo of Malin & Fia during our presentation.

Today, there was an interesting panel debate going in Studio 1 of Hyper Island. It revolved around the question of ‘Are client briefs dead?’ debating the topic of briefs from different industry perspectives. It was comprised of (from the left)  :Patrik Falk, from Made by Many Stockholm; Mattias Wallin, CEO/Account Director @SpinnStockholm; Isaac Pinnock, Interaction Designer @Made by Many London and Tony Högqvist, creative director @Perfect Fools Stockholm. It was great to hear professionals’ insights on what Creative Briefs and Client Briefs mean, and what an agency should strive to do for a client, regardless of what they think they need and ask for. Some of the luxuries of being at Hyper Island are these events with great people from the industry that we get to interact with, for free, and just around the corner from our working desks :)

Minutes before the panel debate begins.

Panel debate in action.
- So bring on week 6, that will be filled with even more exciting work, and will start with a team breakfast at 9am on Monday morning !
