This weekend I visited the Harrods Pet Spa or Pet Kingdom, as I’ve heard it’s also called. Our whole family really loves animals, we have 3 cats one dog and 1 horse. My Dad is a Veterinary Surgeon back home, and owns the largest veterinarian hospital in Porto (yes, I am a very proud daughter :) ) he was visiting me this weekend and had read a lot about Harrods’ Pet Spa, so we went to visit.
It is the epitome of dog and cat luxury! Services include behavioural counselling, full body massages and animal reiki. The place is very well designed and laid out, especially the pet spa with the glass windows where people can stand and watch the animals being groomed. It sells all the accessories you can imagine, as well as having a bakery for dogs only - The Canine Cookie Company, selling impressive cupcakes and biscuits for dogs. There was even a dog portrait painter on site painting, where anyone could stop and watch.
Everything is carefully thought out to the last detail, and that’s why its said to be the world’s most luxurious pet destination. Some photos are below - it’s definitely worth a visit, it is very impressive!

My weekend was dog-filled! My Dad’s Veterinary Hospital (Hospital Veterinário do Porto) was the official veterinary support for this big event in Porto. As a big animal lover, I couldn’t miss the chance to accompany him and experience the backstage of the show, and get to see all the beautiful dogs! Here are a few photos from the event this weekend, in particular of the variety of breeds on show. The ‘Best Dog in Show’ was won by a Portuguese Water Dog.
I’m extremely lucky to have my amazing Dad as a vet. I grew up in his clinic and surrounded by animals, always with great love and respect for an animal’s life. I believe this has been a really positive influence in my life, which I also see reflected in the sport I practice since I was 8, horse riding, which is of course, all about you and the horse.

My horse Bendjy, and a curious dog very interested in him, at the stables this weekend.
This is Miffy. She is my dad’s cat. Everytime I visit I tend to find her in particularly awkward places, and these locations always have something in common: she is ON TOP of it, literally. These have been the latest ones: a printer; a freshly washed clothes basket; digital TV box; plastic bags, and so on… It’s quite amusing that she finds these positions comfortable :) Home sweet home.
