A little peace of mind to end the day :) (via bmdesign)
The coolest and most original ‘flower pot/vase’ (if you can call this one) I have ever seen! I spotted this today outside a home-ware store near my place here in Stockholm. I had to stop and photograph it as I’d never seen anything like this. A great way to recycle an old + unwanted chair, although it will occupy lots of space if you only have a varanda at home!
Steve Jobs Stanford Commencement Speech 2005.
This is one of the most inspiring speeches that has personally motivated me in my life. It’s like everything Steve is saying is perfect and so true! You changed the world and you changed me. Thank you ♥
And so the time has come where we have ended part 1 of the Final Project at Hyper Island! Our group presented to our client: Bukowskis last Thursday, and the 7 weeks for this project have now ended. They have gone by extremely fast, and we have learnt a lot, laughed and had loads of fun, and had our share of least good times. I was really happy I got to work with my three great team members during this last project at school, where I felt I have learnt the most at Hyper Island. Our team and their roles were:
A quick summary of our brief and solution we created for Bukowskis with photos are below.
Brief: ” How can Bukowskis reach new customers using digital media? (While keeping the current ones) “
Solution: After extensive research and gathering important insights, we decided to create a campaign focused on Bukwoskis Market - their online auction site. We called it “JU NÄRMRE DESTO BÄTTRE” and we built an interactive installation with motion detection and light sensors, that would be placed in the streets of Stockholm, Malmö and Gothemburg.

Work in Progress - Building the front part of installation

— It’s sad and scary that this journey at Hyper Island is going so fast, and is coming to an end. Tomorrow the Final Project part 2 begins, where we are free to work on any project we wish and with who we wish. We have 7 more weeks left before the official time for internship begins in November.

A great fashion concept from some Swedes !
1982:
ONE of a TEE is a sophisticated streetwear company from Stockholm, Sweden. Founded in 2010. The unique online store lets the customers decide in which geographical area they want to be the only one wearing these tees. Claim an area for any lenght of time by subscribing, or purchase just one t-shirt. Every six weeks five new t-shirt styles are released. They share a new theme, but are separated by geographical levels.

During the last 3 days, the streets of Södermalm in Stockholm were covered with sounds. Five students from my class of Digital Media 2012 Stockholm: Pebbles,Charlotte, Malin, Mike and Emil have successfully planned and installed a sound installation for Swedish manufacturer of headphones, (their client on a school project), JAYS. The project is called ‘Behind The Wall’.
It consisted of 10 different locations where you could plug into a frame on the wall, and experience the thrill of 360° sound. You then had the opportunity to win a pair of JAYS headphones if you tweeted - #behindthewall - and posted a photo of you ‘plugged in’ on JAYS Facebook page. The photos below shows the experience in action, A great project that was super successful, congrats everyone !

This innovative product, started by two engineers Dave Petrillo and Dave Jackson, sits in the bottom of your cup or travel mug. Each Joulie has “a special non-toxic material sealed within the polished stainless steel shell.” That material melts at 140 degrees Fahrenheit. When it does, it absorbs thermal energy. And as the material solidifies again, it releases said energy. Voilá! Your coffee or tea cools to a drinkable temperature much more quickly and stays warm “twice as long.”
100 Joulies were made by hand they raised money on Kickstarter. The engineers’ initial goal was $9,500. They ended up raising more than $300,000…! You can’t buy Joulies yet, but you can get on a mailing list via their website. When they are available, they’ll go for $50 for a set of five. Watch their case video for more info!

—I actually have this problem EVERYDAY when I make a huge mug of tea/coffee and take it to my working space at Hyper Island… it’s way too hot when I put it down on my desk, and when i remember to have a sip, it’s gone cold!! Great idea.
These include:
and many more.. Great article on Googles’ Think Quarterly magazine
Seen this a while ago, but I just love the graphic layout and design of this magazine.
This very interesting article talks about how childhood experiences influence the way we respond to power.
Being a careful people and behavior observer, I believe we are a product of our environments, meaning we can be shaped by what happens to us and the people we meet throughout life, remaining true to how we group, always. Yes, obvious you might say. In this article the author outlines the different types of power styles we may have such as: The Pleaser, The Charmer, The Commander and The Inspirer.
A great ready by author Maggie Craddock, check it out if you’re into leadership and management, whatever your particular field really.
Whether you are trying to get ahead at your existing firm or land a job in a new organization, it’s helpful to understand that many of your instincts for giving and taking power stem from ways you were conditioned in the first system you experienced in life — your family system. Through my research for my upcoming book Power Genes, I discovered that the building blocks of anyone’s signature power style are rooted in the ways they have been conditioned to respond emotionally and behaviorally to the first authority figures they encountered in life, namely, their caregivers.
I am a big fan of his prophecies, books, words, and beliefs. This was taken from one of his Facebook posts today.
